Darke County Fairgrounds Receives Tractor Donation

On Monday, May 11th, the Darke County Agricultural Society received a present from their friends at Apple Farm Service. A shiny red tractor strolled in from Sweitzer Street to stop at the famous clock at the center of the grandstands; a new Case IH machine to be used by the Darke County Agricultural Society for the next six months.

This marks the third tractor that Apple Farm Service has dropped off for the fairgrounds to use.

“We are delighted that the team at Apple Farm Service has continued this program with us,” said Fair Manager, Brian Rismiller. “They allow us to use a new tractor for six months. It’s a win-win program for the Ag Society, Apples, and whoever purchases this machine.”

This year’s tractor is a Case IH Maxxum 135 with two wheel drive and all the bells and whistles that come standard with today’s farm machinery.

“I had a great time just driving this machine from the store to the fairgrounds,” commented Marketing Manager, Kent Holmes. “This is a perfect machine for what they need. They’ll be primarily using it to maintain the horse track with an arena grader. It’s just the right size, right power, and the air conditioned cab won’t be bad on a hot summer day!”

Apple Farm Service and The Darke County Ag Society were thankful for Case IH and New Holland for allowing this program to continue over the years.

“CNH (Case and New Holland’s parent company) has been generous over the years to allow for nonprofit organizations, like ag societies, to use this six month program,” said Bill Apple, President and Owner of Apple Farm Service. “They understand how important these local fairgrounds, arenas, and other groups are to their communities. This is just one of their ways we can work together to give back.
